the meeting room


this image is of the meeting room, at temple street baptist church middleton photographed by andy marshall:
most people viewing this will see a room. possibly a room with too many chairs. possibly a plain room with too many chairs. i look at this room and ... well you know what . . . . when i really reflect on it, i'd do something about the windows . . . . . .they're churchy and unadorned . . . but i'd add stained glass . . . scaled to fit the window frames but stained glass like this which can be found in the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, Bristol, England...

i also think i'd need to do something about the curtains and the couch to the left. picky picky. but there's something about the textural elements of the walls, the geometry of the walls and ceiling and certainly the colours of the room that calls out to me.
i look at this room and see a sacred space, a space in which work can be done. in which spiritual work can truly take place.
