a sudden flurry

the sun
still new to the day
rose soft
and orange
over the river

a breeze passed
in a sudden flurry of movement
like the soft panic of a small bird's wings
catching at my shirt sleeve
causing it to pull
ever so gently

in the eddies and whorls of her passing by
a whispering voice
soft as the falling of petals

Steven, how do you write like this?

Every thing in this poem flows and falls, like the soft panic of bird's wings, soft as the falling of petals.

I think the wind is a flirt too, but I call it "he." :-)

Yes, Steven, how do you write these beautifully merged words and sentiments???
I know that petals and breezes are inspirational in themselves, but ....

I would guess that you experience countless moments like the one you captured in this poem and that one part of your process is deciding which one to share. I am also guessing that you have gaggle of readers wanting you to write about your writing process. I know you have written about it before, especially in the comments, but I am hearing your readers clamor for more, more.

Those petals look like confetti after a happy party. :)

Thanks for always pointing out the brighter side of life.

terresa, i wish i could answer you but i know the mechanics of how i set up a piece of writing but not much about any other part of it. it has to feel right. that's a hard thing to explain - but you know that i bet. steven

weaver - the petals that have been falling of late make me think of the fruit that's coming! steven

ruth thankyou. it's interesting how we apply gender to objects and natural forces, and extend qualities that we ascribe to those genders into the experiencing of the features of those objects and natural forces. i have a bike who is like a brother to me. hmmmm. steven

aguja - i'm not entirely sure how it happens but it does so i'm glad and i feel very fortunate. steven

dan - i can write about how i get to the writing. maybe if i do that i can articulate what happens during the writing. i can feel it when i am writing but i've not really thought about the words that describe it. i'll see what i can do dan and thankyou so much for your supportive comment. it carries a lot of presence for me. steven
