a walking day

this was a day for walking.

"There are some good things to be said about walking. Not many, but some. Walking takes longer, for example, than any other known form of locomotion except crawling. Thus it stretches time and prolongs life. Life is already too short to waste on speed. I have a friend who's always in a hurry; he never gets anywhere. Walking makes the world much bigger and thus more interesting. You have time to observe the details." edward abbey

the golden thread

i woke into this world filled with . . . well, a sort of general feeling of unhappiness . . . i've been here long enough to know that these days arrive, and yes, they go and if i'm lucky, i reattach my earthly self to the golden thread that's always available . . . the golden thread that upon very very close examination has words written on it . . . words like hope, trust, patience, beauty, goodness, forgiveness, care, kindness, and most especially beautifully written in a sweet looping script . . .
love . . . .
